The Accident Season - Moïra Fowley-Doyle

For some reason this book had me captivated until the end, even though, looking back there is not so much happening.

It starts with Cara finding that a single girl is in all her photographs. Not many, all. This is weird of course and also coincides with the so-called accident season, the month of October in which many accidents happen to the family, some of them even deadly.

For the longest part of the book I was trying to guess about the Accident Season as it certainly had a strange air around it. The writing certainly isn't standard but I think it fitted the story well. The second half of the story it starts getting weirder and weirder, and when the truth finally starts to unravel I thought it was a bit too much. There are so many things that were kept a secret, so many different things I might add, that it was a bit too much all together. It also made it harder to believe it (even though it's magical realism, it didn't feel like that part was supposed to be magical).

However, it was really interesting to read and kept me guessing for quite some time. I would read another book by Moïra Fowley-Doyle.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
