The Thing About Jellyfish - Ali Benjamin

I enjoyed The Thing About Jellyfish a lot more than I expected at first. It's part a heartbreaking story about loss, part very informative on jellyfish really.

After Suzy's best friend drowns, Suzy can't believe it's just an accident. She sets out on an adventure to proof her theory: that the death was caused by the sting of a rare jellyfish.

It truly was a heartbreaking story for me. I can't begin to describe exactly why. It reminded me a bit of a book I read as a child, but The thing about jellyfish worked better for me. It's just every once in a while you find a book that for some reason really moves you. This time, it was this book for me. It had the right balance between the story of their friendship and the story of the jellyfish. I liked all the info on the jellyfish. Overall, I just really liked it. If you're looking for a MG book to gift/read, I'd recommend this one.

I would definitely read anything else written by this author!
