Outcast, Vol. 1: A Darkness Surrounds Him - Elizabeth Breitweiser, Paul Azaceta, Robert Kirkman

A Darkness Surrounds Him.

Kyle is an outcast, struggling with his past, his present and possibly also his future. He makes for a very interesting character in this first volume that combines the first six issues of this new series. As a whole, this volume has brought up some very interesting character that make I want to continue reading. The story itself hasn't really developed yet as it is very clear that it was just preparing the world and the story in this first volume. At the end of it, I would not be able yet to tell you exactly what it is going to be about.

The artwork is very dark and raw, but it really fits the story, which is also dark and raw. It did however took quite some time for me to get used to it and to start appreciating it. But by the end of the volume I kind of liked it.

I'm interesting to see how the story will develop, but I'm at this moment a bit afraid it might take very long to actually go somewhere, based on that fact the story was setting up quite slow in this first volume.
